Fur is Alive

This Season has proven that fur is well and truly alive with both designers and high street embracing this craze with open arms. As always wherever fur goes controversy follows however it continues to strive forward for another season. Yet again we see the emergence of full on luxurious fur coats as well as fur being used as trimmings collars and sleeves. Controversial or not fur seems to be the luxury buy on everyones wish list this season.

Flower Power
This season the power of the flower has came back with a bang for yet another season with florals taking a slightly darker twist in comparison to what we have seen before. An abundance of floral pattern is mixed and mingled together to creat flamboyant displays of pattern which is then immersed in a riot of enamel rich colours to create girly floral but with richer tones

Frenzy for Fetish
A fenzy for fetish has begun with fashion taking a twist towards fantasy, beneath the fetish bondage lays a fragility and femininity that is both pretty and delicate. Kinky, shiny waist cinching belts are a major feature bringing a sexy focus that draws the eye. Belts, straps, buckles restrain and  frame the body with leather collars and cuffs adding to the look. Ultimately this is a body defining story, where a desire to fantasise meets high fashion.

History Relived

In this trend we take a look back to the past on a historic journey where restraint is ignored in exchange for opulence and extravegance. Byzantine riches, medival beauty, baroque decoration and the adornment of vestments of the High Church inspire the most elaborate fabrics, lavish embellishment with embroidery, beading to produce a beautiful and dramatic display of extravagence.

Theme Project

Allsorts
Print and pattern take centre stage in exbuberant form with exciting mixes of polka dots, candy strips and multi-coloured prints brightening up the catwalks. In this trend we see both paired back versions of print aswell as crazy colour collaborations that scream fun!!!!In the end we have both beauifully elegant garments as well as the fun exuberant explosions of colour

Ladies as Gentlemen
This trend see's women embrace the garments of their male conterparts. Shirts, ties and suits have emploded onto the catwalks with women rebelling against the delicate and pretty in favour of this edgy expression of attitude which takes it's influence from the rockabilly styles of the 50's and the androgynous Madonna style statements of the 80's were girls can look boyish without looking brash

The Strip project

The final project that we done this year was the strip project...the aim of this project was to find a theme  which is a source of strips and take inspiration from this in samples..
My theme was Strips in Nature which was later reduced to strips in fish and then finally jellyfish

This is an example of my final mood board to show what direction the project is going and also examples of my colour stories

Easter Project

For our Easter project we were asked to explore and take inspiration from our home or home enviroment....the first thing I thought of was the decayed old house near were I live....

After looking at decayed houses I began to just look and do observational drawings around my own house to see if I could find any interesting shapes and textures for my samples

After doing all my research I found my velvet couch in my living room the most interesting with it's triangular and button details. From this i decided to do my samples in red velvet.

While experimenting with this fabric i done a few samples but realised that I found draping it on the maniquin a lot more interesting.

Here are a few examples of the samles I done

After doing a lot of experimentation I came up with my final design for my ranking project and an illustration to match
